Verification of Death by Registered Nurses


	At the end of this course the registered nurse will be able to discuss the legal implications and requirements to lawfully verify the fact of death and be able to apply clinical examination techniques to diagnose the fact of death.

	COURSE CONTENT

	The course consists of a combination of lectures, discussions and practical skill sessions to enhance the nurses’ legal knowledge on the subject of death verification and certification, as well as practical sessions to enable the nurse to use palpation, auscultation and examination skills to diagnose the fact of death. This course takes into consideration the recent legislative changes and recommendations made as a result of the Shipman enquiry.
