Advanced Outcomes Management / Advanced Quality Measurement

This program will focus on more advanced applications of the tools previously reviewed and propose additional tools for the future. Principally, the role of report cards in promoting public accountability and their impact on improving quality will be reviewed. In addition, other mechanisms that might be employed to improve performance in healthcare systems will be speculated.

ONLINE PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

>	Trace the history of public accountability for outcomes in medicine.
>	Describe the major barriers and facilitators for enhancing accountability in medical care.
>	Give specific examples of successful programs that promote public accountability such as the Pennsylvania Healthcare Cost Containment Council.
>	Speculate, based on the evidence, regarding the future of public accountability for healthcare outcomes.
