As the population ages, the presentation of individuals with alterations in mental status at primary care facilities becomes a more frequent event. This program reviews the possible aetiologies of altered mental status, proper evaluation and appropriate treatment strategies.

AUTHOR

Dr. Brottman was a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Chicago in Illinois. He was also an attending physician of Emergency Medicine at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Il. Dr. Brottman received his medical degree from the University of Illinois in Chicago and served an Emergency Medicine residency at University of Chicago Affiliated Hospitals.
