  Atrial Fibrillation  - Part 2
 

Part 2 of a two-part program that provides an overview of current therapies for atrial fibrillation. These include anti-coagulation, rate control strategies, pharmacologic rhythm control, pacing therapy and catheter ablation.

N.B. This program was originaly produced for US healthcare workers.

Upon completion of this online program, the participant should be able:

To identify the appropriate use, benefits, and risks of pacing therapy in patients with atrial fibrillation;

>

To identify appropriate patient selection and anticipated outcome of catheter ablative therapy for atrial flutter;

>

To identify appropriate patient selection and anticipated outcome of catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation;

> To recognise the risks related to catheter ablative therapy of atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter;
> To recognise the role of surgical ablative therapy for atrial fibrillation, appropriate use, benefits, and risks of pacing therapy.

Francis E. Marchlinski, M.D., F.A.C.C.
Dr. Frank E. Marchlinski is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He is also the Director of Electrophysiology at the University of Pennsylvania Health System. Dr. Marchlinski received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and served his medical residency and cardiology fellowships at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology and electrophysiology. Dr. Marchlinski has lectured and written extensively on the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.
