  Hepatitis
 

Hepatitis is an important cause of liver morbidity. The clinician is well-served by familiarity with the components of the standard liver profile, the presentation, natural history, approach to diagnosis and treatment of viral hepatitis, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, and autoimmune hepatitis. This program is a review of hepatitis in its various forms, most specifically concentrating on viral forms of hepatitis.

> To gain an overview of modalities available in the treatment of chronic viral hepatitis.
> To understand the epidemiology, natural history and diagnosis of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
> To review the approach to diagnosis and treatment of autoimmune hepatitis.

AUTHOR

Dr. Herrine M.D. received his training at Jefferson Medical College, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He currently serves as Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Thomas Jefferson University. His clinical and research interests are in viral hepatitis, chronic liver disease and liver transplantation. Dr. Herrine also holds an appointment as Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs at Jefferson Medical College, where he oversees the second year of the undergraduate medical curriculum.
