Course content includes:
- Understand what epilepsy is; what happens in the brain during a seizure.
- Awareness of the different types of seizures.
- Awareness of the possible causes of a seizure.
- Recognise the signs and symptoms when someone is having a seizure.
- Understand how to safely care for someone having a seizure.
- Explore the specific risks and preventative management of seizures.
- Discuss the different types of treatment available to control seizures.
- Understand the emergency treatments and management of epilepsy.
- Recognise (candidates) own personal and professional responsibilities in line with legal, professional, local organisational policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Recognise and understand when and why to call for emergency teams and or ambulance.
