Charles Bloe Training Ltd are excited to offer a new core skills training course for healthcare workers, which is delivered face to face. This course will teach you the basic skills of:
- People handling including the safe use of a hoist, sling sizing and the associated legislative considerations.
In health and social care settings, the routine tasks often involve the manual movement, lifting, or handling of individuals. This section of the training course aims to instruct participants on the necessary skills and potential risks associated with the safe movement of people. We will cover the theory and legal aspects of biomechanics and safe systems of work, as well as practice of safe transfers with, and without, lifting equipment such as a hoist. We will look at the safe fitting of slings and how to establish if the equipment is suitable for the client’s needs.
- Basic Life Support including CPR, use of an AED, rescue from choking and the recovery position.
In your role, you may find yourself faced with potentially life-threatening situation. Basic Life Support is designed to give you the knowledge and understanding required to react quickly and appropriately in emergency situations, increasing the safety and quality of care provided. This section will help provide you with the knowledge and skills to administer potentially life-saving help. It teaches you how to assess situations and utilise techniques such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the recovery position, and how to react if the client is choking.
- Understanding food hygiene, nutrition and hydration.
Whatever your role is in healthcare, you may have responsibility for helping someone with their food choices, preparation and consumption. This section will explain the importance of ensuring our bodies are supplied with essential vitamins and minerals in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. It will explain how to understand food labels and cater for different diets. The course will also look at how a poor diet affects physical and mental health and the importance of hydration including the problems encountered through dehydration.
